The City of Brooklet Public Works Department is Hiring! Job Summary Equipment operator and water system maintenance technician. The hourly rate is $18.25 maximum of $21.50 per with benefits available. Essential Job Functions * Operate a trash truck with an articulating arm. * Installs, maintains, and repairs water mains and lines; * Operates a backhoe, tractor, batwing mower, front-end loader, dump truck, zero turn mowers; * Locates and repairs leaks in water lines; * Makes water taps; * performs preventive maintenance; * Sets water meters; * Performs preventive maintenance procedures on assigned equipment; * Flushes and cleans water lines; * Answers emergency service calls as required; * Sets barricades, cones, and warning signs at work sites. Additional Duties: * Repairs and maintains Public Works buildings and yards. * Maintains vehicles and equipment. * Builds, maintains, and repairs fences and structures on city property. * Removes dead animals from the roadway. * Collects yard waste, tree limbs, and leaves and sees to their disposal. * Cuts back trees which may be in danger of snagging utility lines or impeding street traffic. * Installs or repairs street signs in subdivisions and other areas. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Requirements to Perform Work * High School Diploma or GED; * One (1) year of experience in a related field; * Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and * Valid State of Georgia Driver's License; * Valid CDL Driver's License; Work is typically performed outdoors while intermittently standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping and in uncomfortable, dirty, and noisy locations. Requires good eye-hand coordination and the ability to lift light and heavy objects, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and distinguishes between shades of color. The employee may be exposed to inclement weather, machinery with moving parts, noise, dust, dirt, and grease. Requires the use of protective devices such as goggles or gloves. Weekend, holiday, and after-hours work are sometimes required.
