NOTICE OF DETOUR APPROVAL P. I. 0015605 Bulloch County Notice is hereby given that the Georgia Department of Transportation has approved the use of and the routing of a detour for this project. The date of detour approval is: April 29, 2026 This project will replace the existing bridge on Old Highway 46 (CR 927) over Ash Branch on the existing alignment and is located approximately 11.6 miles southeast of Brooklet, Georgia. The proposed bridge will be 145-ft long and 35.3-ft wide. The bridge typical will consist of a two-lane road with 11-ft wide lanes with 5-ft wide shoulders. The roadway approach will consist of 11-ft wide lanes with 8-ft (6.5-ft paved) wide shoulders. The project length is approximately 0.2 miles long and construction estimate is 12 months. This project would include an off-site detour, and the detour will be in place for approximately 6 months. The proposed 5.7-mile off-site detour would begin at Old Highway 46/Ash Branch Church Road and utilize Ash Branch Church Road to I-16 to SR 119 to Old Highway 46. The detour adds an additional 0.2 miles to the traveling public. A local road off-site bicycle detour route is needed due to CR 927/Old Highway 46 being part of Georgia State Bicycle Routes 35 and 40. The detour would begin at Old Highway 46 and utilize Ash Branch Church Road to IG Lanier Road to SR 119 to Old Highway 46. The local road bicycle detour distance is 9.4 miles and adds an additional 3.9 miles. There are no substandard or load posted bridges on the detour route suggested. Old Hwy 46 (CR 927) is a school bus route but no schools, or churches, are located near the road closure.
